About Villanova

Villanova College is a Roman Catholic boys’ school in Coorparoo, Brisbane, operated in the Augustinian tradition. It was founded in 1948 by six Irish Augustinians led by Ben O’Donnell, originally opening at Whinstanes before relocating to its permanent campus at Coorparoo in 1954. The college now educates around 1,500 students from Years 5 to 12 across its Junior, Middle and Senior Schools. It maintains a non selective enrolment policy and is affiliated with AHISA, IPSHA and the Associated Independent Colleges. The campus has grown steadily since the move to Coorparoo, with major developments including academic buildings, sports facilities, Villanova Park at Tingalpa and the recent St Thomas of Villanova Learning Centre. The college has a strong co curricular program supported by the AIC competition, extensive music programs and shared musical productions with Loreto College. Villanova has faced several notable incidents, including a brick wall collapse in 2016, a fire at the Cor Unum Centre in 2017 and historic abuse cases involving a former priest. Alumni include figures in politics, law, sport, literature and media.
