About Toowoomba Grammar

Toowoomba Grammar School is an independent day and boarding school for boys in East Toowoomba, Queensland, founded in 1875 as one of the state’s original grammar schools under the Grammar Schools Act 1860. The school opened in 1877 in a purpose built facility designed by architect Willoughby Powell, and several of its early buildings are now listed on the Queensland Heritage Register. It has grown from a small regional institution into a leading boys’ school with around 1,150 students from Prep to Year 12 and a boarding community of approximately 300 boys drawn from Queensland, interstate and overseas.

The school offers a broad academic curriculum supported by modern facilities, specialist centres and a strong co curricular culture. Toowoomba Grammar is a long standing member of the Great Public Schools Association of Queensland and competes in GPS sport, music and activities. Students also participate in a wide range of cultural programs, leadership opportunities and service initiatives, with ensembles regularly performing at the Toowoomba Eisteddfod. Former pupils have distinguished themselves across public life, including in politics, the judiciary, the military, the arts and professional sport, contributing to a well established Old Boys network that remains active in the life of the school.
