St Stithians College is a private Methodist school in Lyme Park, Johannesburg, offering a co-ordinate model of education through boys’ and girls’ colleges, preparatory schools and a junior preparatory on a 100 hectare campus. Founded in 1953 through the Stithians Trust established by Albert Collins, William Mountstephens and Gilbert Tucker, the school has grown into one of South Africa’s largest independent institutions and is known for strong academic results, extensive co-curricular programmes and its long association with the Methodist Church.
The college operates six schools on its main site and also maintains the Kamoka Bush School near Modimolle and the St Stithians Online School. Both the Boys’ and Girls’ Colleges are members of Round Square and the G30 Schools Conference. The campus hosts the annual Saints Sports Festival, regarded as the largest and longest running school sports festival in the world. Alumni include national and international figures in sport, politics, the arts, science and media.
