Hoërskool Noordheuwel, affectionately known as Nories, is an Afrikaans-medium, co-educational high school situated in the established suburb of Noordheuwel in Krugersdorp, Gauteng. Founded in 1981, the school has grown into one of the leading academic and sporting institutions in South Africa, with a learner population of over 2,000 pupils from Grades 8 to 12.
The school is recognised for consistently strong academic outcomes. It has been named the top academic school in the Gauteng West district and has featured among the top 20 schools nationally. In 2025, Hoërskool Noordheuwel was ranked among the top three schools in Gauteng for Bachelor’s degree pass rates, reinforcing its reputation for academic excellence.
Alongside academics, Noordheuwel is widely regarded as one of the country’s premier sporting schools. The school was crowned NWU Sport School of the Year for the second consecutive time in 2024 and regularly ranks among the top three athletics schools in South Africa according to national PUKKE athletics standings.
