About Kearsney

Kearsney College is one of South Africa’s leading boys’ boarding schools, founded in 1921 by Sir Liege Hulett and rooted in the Methodist tradition. Originally established on the Kearsney Estate near Stanger, the school moved to its current Botha’s Hill campus in 1939, offering a healthier climate and space for long-term expansion. The campus has grown into a modern educational environment overlooking the Valley of a Thousand Hills, supported by a structured house system and a strong boarding culture that remains central to school life.

Kearsney combines high academic expectations with a broad co-curricular programme that includes world-class sport, music and cultural activities. The school competes on the national stage in rugby, cricket and hockey and is home to the well-known Kearsney Easter Rugby Festival. Clubs, leadership initiatives and exchange programmes broaden pupil experience, while the IEB academic pathway consistently produces strong results. Alumni include prominent business leaders, international athletes, medical innovators and public figures, reflecting the school’s long-standing reputation for developing well-rounded young men.
