The Super 8 is one of New Zealand’s premier schoolboy rugby competitions, established in 1998 to bring together eight of the country’s leading rugby schools. Representing the central and eastern North Island, the competition features: Gisborne Boys’ High, Hamilton Boys’ High, Hastings Boys’ High, Napier Boys’ High, New Plymouth Boys’ High, Palmerston North Boys’ High, Rotorua Boys’ High, and Tauranga Boys’ College.
Over the years, the Super 8 has grown into a breeding ground for elite talent, with countless players going on to represent Super Rugby franchises and the All Blacks. Known for its fierce rivalries, passionate crowds, and high standard of play, the Super 8 is regarded as the toughest schools rugby competition in New Zealand.
