The Champions Trophy was an elite national schoolboy rugby union competition in England, run by the Rugby Football Union (RFU) from 2014 to 2019.

It was created to provide a highly competitive knockout tournament for leading rugby schools just outside the traditional Daily Mail Cup (now the Schools Cup) powerhouses.

Top-tier independent schools such as Wellington College, Dulwich College, Epsom College, and Bedford School regularly featured in the tournament.

Matches were played midweek, with a knockout format culminating in a high-profile final at Allianz Park, the former home of Saracens. The Champions Trophy was known for its intensity, high skill level, and closely contested fixtures, often seen as a showcase for England’s next generation of rugby talent.

Though discontinued after the 2019 season, the competition helped elevate the profile of schoolboy rugby and bridged the gap between elite-level school teams and professional pathways. Many alumni from the competition have gone on to feature in Premiership Rugby and England age-group squads.
