The Canterbury Schools Premiership is the premier secondary school rugby competition in the Canterbury region of New Zealand. It brings together the region’s strongest First XV sides in a round-robin season followed by knockout playoffs, culminating in a grand final that crowns the regional champion and determines qualification for the South Island and National Schools Championships.

The competition features some of New Zealand’s most historic rugby schools, including Christchurch Boys’ High School, St Bede’s College, St Andrew’s College, and Christ’s College. Known for its high skill level, disciplined structures, and fierce local rivalries, the Premiership is widely regarded as one of the toughest schoolboy rugby environments in the country.

The Canterbury Schools Premiership continues to be a key talent pathway, producing numerous professional and international players who have gone on to represent Canterbury, the Crusaders, and the All Blacks.
