Welkom Gim

Welkom-Gimnasium is a co-educational secondary school in Welkom, Free State, South Africa. The school was founded in 1953 as an Afrikaans-medium institution, and since 1996 it has offered classes in both Afrikaans and English. The school serves students from Grades 8 through 12 and uses the motto Persevera et labora (“Persevere and work”). Over the years Welkom-Gimnasium has become known locally for academic strength and for its rivalry with nearby Goudveld Hoërskool. With a campus in the town of Welkom and a mixed Afrikaans-English medium, the school aims to provide a solid general secondary education to a diverse student body.
