Trinity School of John Whitgift is an independent boys’ day school with a co educational sixth form, located in Shirley Park, Croydon. Established in 1882 as Whitgift Middle School under the Whitgift Foundation, it later became a direct grant grammar school before adopting its current name in 1954. Originally based in central Croydon and later at North End, the school moved to its modern Shirley campus in 1965 on the former grounds of the Shirley Park Hotel. The school offers a traditional academic curriculum, an extensive co curricular programme and a strong reputation in music, drama, water polo, rugby, hockey and cricket. Its facilities include a large sports centre, multiple pitches, specialist music studios and a dedicated sixth form centre. Trinity is also home to the Trinity Boys Choir, widely recognised for its international performance work. Notable alumni include leading figures in the arts, sport, science, the military and public life.
