Hoërskool Transvalia is an Afrikaans-medium public secondary school in Vanderbijlpark, in South Africa’s Vaal Triangle, serving boys and girls from Grade 8 through to matric. Classified by the Gauteng Department of Education as a public ordinary secondary school, it draws learners from across Vanderbijlpark and the wider Vaaldriehoek and positions itself as “’n instansie vir kinders om tot hulle volle potensiaal… te ontwikkel,” operating under explicitly Christian principles as a “suiwer Afrikaanse skool” that gives high priority to both language and faith. The school offers a broad academic programme with a wide subject choice, backed by modern facilities and a strong emphasis on disciplined but caring pastoral support and a safe campus environment. Extramurally, Transvalia is known for its rugby, netball, hockey, athletics and a range of other sports, which the school deliberately uses to build camaraderie, character and perseverance, alongside an active cultural life. In 2024 its rugby programme hosted the SDC Noordvaal Division 1 Plate final in Vanderbijlpark, placed three teams in the deciders and was officially named overall winner of its league, while the under-14 girls hockey side won the Noordvaal “Grootskole B” tournament and several netball teams progressed to the Gauteng championships, achievements celebrated under the hashtag “#TrotsTradisieTransvalia.”
