About Boland Landbou

Hoër Landbouskool Boland was established in 1962 after years of planning by the Boland Landbou-Unie, who sought a dedicated agricultural high school for the region. Set on the Langerug farm outside Paarl, the school was designed to provide Afrikaans-medium agricultural education supported by practical farming facilities and full boarding for all learners. From its earliest days the school has been shaped by its motto Bewaar ons bodem, reflecting a commitment to land stewardship, Christian values and the development of disciplined, grounded young people.

Today Boland Landbou is recognised as one of South Africa’s leading agricultural schools, offering a specialised learning environment where academic study is integrated with hands-on farming, technical training and outdoor learning. Rugby remains a defining part of school culture with several Springboks among its alumni, and sport is complemented by strong programmes in cricket, athletics, tennis, golf and equestrian activities. With its close-knit hostel life, unique farm setting and long-standing agricultural traditions, Hoër Landbouskool Boland continues to produce confident, capable learners well prepared for both agricultural careers and broader leadership roles.
