The Windsor Boys’ School is a well-established boys’ secondary school and sixth form in Windsor, Berkshire, with a history stretching back to 1908. Originally founded as Windsor County Boys’ School and later known as Windsor Grammar School, it has developed over more than a century into a comprehensive academy serving boys aged 13 to 18. The school is part of the Windsor Learning Partnership and is based on Maidenhead Road, close to the heart of Windsor.
The school has a strong sense of tradition and community, reflected in its motto, “Uno Animo” — “With One Spirit.” Its house system dates back to 1921 and today consists of eight houses: Allen, Burgess, Burnett, Ford, Lambdin, Ottrey, Warwick and Woodland. Each house is named in honour of a former pupil who lost his life during either the First or Second World War, helping to preserve an important connection between the school’s present-day pupils and its long history.
Academically, The Windsor Boys’ School has built a reputation for providing a broad education alongside specialist opportunities in the arts and vocational learning. The school is particularly renowned for rowing through Windsor Boys’ School Boat Club, which was established in 1940 and is based on the River Thames. The club has become one of the leading school sculling programmes in the country and has enjoyed significant success at national level, including multiple victories in the prestigious Fawley Challenge Cup at Henley Royal Regatta.
The school has also produced notable former pupils across sport, business, politics, journalism and the arts. Its alumni include Olympic and international athletes, senior military figures, politicians, entrepreneurs and broadcasters.
